About Jamie
Jamie works full time as an Associate Professor and Department Chair for Ivy Tech Community College in Terre Haute, Indiana. He teaches a variety of classes in the Criminal Justice Program and also oversees the Criminal Justice, Human Services, Paralegal and Legal Studies Programs.
Prior to teaching, Jamie had an extensive career in the criminal justice system in a variety of leadership and management roles. In addition, Jamie has also worked with many agencies and spoken to several organizations around the country on the subject of leadership. He enjoys helping people understand the key leadership roles they play at work, in their families and within their communities.
Jamie is an avid sports fan whose favorite teams include the Detroit Tigers, Indianapolis Colts and all University of Michigan athletic teams. He enjoys spending his free time fishing in a creek or a river, or anywhere he can enjoy nature and God's creation. His hobbies also include reading, learning, walking and travelling. He is the husband to Mary, and dad to his adult children Mikyla and Tyler.
Jamie began his career with the Indiana Department of Correction in 1994. He held numerous positions at a variety of facilities within the Department which included: Correctional Officer, Sergeant, Training Officer, Transition Counselor, Casework Manager, Youth Service Transition Specialist, Unit Team Manager and his final assignment was as an Assistant Superintendent of Operations at a maximum security prison. Jamie left the IDOC to become the Director of the Correctional Education Program at Indiana State University in 2008. He began working for Ivy Tech Community College, Terre Haute in 2009 as an Associate Professor and Department Chair of the Criminal Justice, Human Services, Paralegal and Legal Studies Programs.
Jamie received his Associate of Science Degree in Criminology from Indiana State University, his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Indiana Wesleyan University and his Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana State University.
Jamie has presented to a wide variety of groups and organizations around the country about management, leadership, encouragement and motivation. Jamie gives presentations as a keynote speaker and also in workshops, focusing on the importance of having effective leadership in our homes, communities and work places.
